NATIVITY CATHOLIC CHURCH
5802 CURRY ROAD / PITTSBURGH, PA 15236
412-655-3000
Welcome to Nativity Parish in Pittsburgh's South Park suburb. It is our hope to be a sign of Christ present to all of us in the Eucharist and in our community.
IMPORTANT NOTICE!
The winter weather in February caused some pipes to freeze and break and damage our church and school. Until further notice, Sunday masses will be in the gym. Weekday masses will be in the cafeteria. For more information, read Fr. Hissrich's letter here.
CURRENT STATUS:
Pews: A company which specializes in the restoration of church furnishings has taken the pews. Those on which the water fell are being refinished, and all of them are being inspected thoroughly. The company will store them for us until we are able to reinstall them.
Church carpet: The carpet in the nave (seating area) of the church was stained beyond saving by the water that poured through the ceiling and has been removed. It will be replaced as part of the project. The carpet in the sanctuary took only a small amount of water and will be cleaned during the job.
Painting: The walls in church (and in the school) were not damaged by the water, but there was, as anticipated, tape damage from the protective plastic put up during the asbestos abatement. Those walls will be repainted as they were before, including the artistic embellishments from our 2007 renovation.
School hallway: The asbestos abatement contractor who works with the church ceiling will also removed all the floor tile and carpeting from the first-floor school hallway as well as all the classrooms where the tile was loosened by the water. The hallway will be re-tiled, and the classrooms will be re-tiled or re-carpeted.
